A propagation study is an graphical estimate of the probable coverage of a radio system. A contour study is computer model of service areas and interference areas. Used as a very (very) rough idea of which systems will cause interference to each other. Often used in licensing by coordinators and the FCC. A TSB-88 interference study is a detailed propagation study that shows the level and location of interference between two radio system, based on the standards of TSB-88. Canadian Coordination HIA (Harmful Interference Anticipated) Study A special propagation study accepted by Canada for purposes of determining whether a proposed US station will receive approval from the Canadian government. Canadian HIA Pre-Qualification A study which determines the likelihood of a Canadian objection to a frequency within the U.S. Canadian Coordination Zone A study which determines if two sites have sufficiently clear line of sight to be linked together. DHAAT (Directional Height Above Average Terrain) A study used to determine the availability and maximum ERP for a proposed short-spaced 800 MHz station. A study used to determine the availability and maximum ERP for a proposed short-spaced 800 MHz station that requires a waiver under rule Part 90.621. Contour study and dBu analysis of a requested ERP that is in excess of 90.205. An estimate of channel availability based on the above studies.
